☆ Princess Polly Care Guide ☆

We understand that laundry mishaps can happen, causing your loved pieces to come to an early end.

We hate that just as much as you do. Firstly, because we want you to love your fav Polly pieces as long as you possibly can! But secondly – and really importantly – when clothes aren’t washed, dried and disposed of in sustainable ways, it can have a pretty big impact on the environment, too.

But not to worry, babes. We’re here to help make laundry mishaps a thing of the past. With a bit of TLC, some eagle-eyed attention to the labels and some smart laundry hacks, you can keep your fav pieces looking fresh and fab, season after season. And oh – the planet will thank you, too.

Polly’s five top tips for prolonging your product:

WASH LESS

Washing less can prolong your products lifespan all while saving energy and water. Washing your clothes too often can damage the fibres

Princess Polly tip: Hang your clothes in a steamy bathroom to freshen your product up.

WASH COLD

Washing your clothes on lower temperatures can avoid shrinkage and reduce creases all while saving energy.

Princess Polly tip: Wash your clothes inside out to prevent damage and increase contact with the dirtiest parts of your product.

SPOT CLEAN STAINS

Spot cleaning can be more effective and avoids washing the whole product, saving energy and water.

Princess Polly tip: Try spot cleaning on intricate/delicate products to prolong its lifespan.

AIR DRY

Line drying your clothes can give them a fresh scent, reduces creases, and avoids shrinkage. Tumble dryers can often tatter your clothes, wear them out more quickly and use a lot of energy!

If you are to experience any shrinkage with your item, we recommend to hand-wash the item in cold water again, gently wring it out, give it a light stretch and lay flat to dry! A cool iron or steam can help the fabric settle back into it's OG shape

Princess Polly tip: Shake out your clothes and hang either outside or on a drying rack or on hangers.

ALWAYS READ THE CARE LABEL

The label will tell you exactly what material the piece is made of and how to best take care for it. Easy as.

Princess Polly tip: Get to know your fabrics and head to our breakdown fabrics on Princess Polly Care Guide.

END OF LIFE

When you’re finally ready to part ways with your piece – look for ways to give it a second life. Could it find a new home with a friend, a willing buyer on an online marketplace, or an op-shop? Could a hole-y tee be snipped into a crop? Keep the bin as a very last resort when other options aren’t going to work.

The fashion industry has significant impacts on the environment and it's important to us that we take responsibility for our products from beginning to end. We are working to create a collection channel for your used or damaged items by 2023.

In the meantime, let’s get creative! We will show you how to style your fave products so you can love them longer. Through a little DIY you might even find you’ve created a whole new look, making what you thought was coming to an end, your new go-to.
